A vigorous artist, Maria Pacca speaks with a visual voice that is universal. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Pacca graduated from California University at Long Beach with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and further pursued her studies at the Chouinard Art Institute in California. Her landscapes in watercolor are bold and energetic. Her charcoal figure drawings are passionate. Pacca has held six one-woman exhibits and several group shows in Guatemala, Brazil, California, Hawaii and Colorado. Her paintings hang in private collections worldwide.
Having recently moved from NYC, showing her work at the Ward-Nasse Gallery and teaching collage and drawing at UnArthodox, an experimental art school in Chelsea, Maria is ready to make Boulder, CO her home. In Colorado Springs, CO, her paintings and watercolors are represented by the Center for Creative Leadership.
Maria’s ongoing production of cylindrical paintings she calls “artscopes”, her drawings and watercolors can be seen at both these sites, www.mariapacca.artspan.com and www.flickr.com/photos/paccapacca. Her blog, www.mariapacca.com/workshops shows the work of her many students from various schools, institutions and private classes where Maria was teaching during five years she spent in São Paulo and in Brasilia, Brazil. These images (watercolors, drawings and acrylic paintings) offer an insight into her favorite specialty as a teacher: showing the way to letting go of fears, finding one’s creative voice and having fun with the process.
